FEARS
Michael has been talking a lot about things he is afraid of lately. Some I can totally understand, But sad he is already thinking and worrying about them, where as others really catch me off guard. They seem to come up as a topic of discussion at night, when his body slows down and his brain keeps going, alone in a lowly lit room at bedtime. His main fear and the one that I try not to laugh about is gophers, yep gophers. He saw a cartoon one day where a gopher bit some kid and then the kid turned into a gopher and now he is afraid of them. Even though we don't have gophers in our yard, nor have I ever lived in a house where I have ever seen one, he is determined to let them bug him. I have tried to tell him we don't have any here, that they can't get in the house through the walls and concrete, etc. But he still asks about them and thinks of them getting him. Other ones are aliens and bombs, of course that I can see where he is coming from. I am sure he watches a lot of cartoons with these things in them, I just hope he will trust me that he is safe here with me and that these things are not real or we will never experience and therefore can't hurt him. I think there was one more funny one, but I am drawing blank as to what it is right now.
